When everything is going as you expected! With the upturn of the economy and job markets looking stronger, why should you continue to update your résumé?
Boost Your Confidence – Having a recent record of what is “going right” with your career is a huge confidence booster. You’ll be able to track your professional progress while your accomplishments are occurring. This not only helps you keep your best skills at the top of your mind but also allows you to determine which ones you may want to develop for future positions.
Learn From the Jobs You Love – Looking at your current position can also help you look into the crystal ball of the future to see which skills you should be perfecting. Research has shown that when people work within their strengths they are happier and more satisfied. Are you doing something in your career that brings you fulfillment? Take note! And keep an eye out for similar opportunities.
Be The Early Bird – The early bird gets the worm, as the saying goes. In the case of economic downturns with your company or unexpected opportunities to work somewhere else, you will be able to send out your résumé while others are just getting theirs prepared or updated. Be ready!
It is easier to keep your résumé updated when you don’t need it than it is when you do. While it does take time, a little upfront effort now will help you evaluate which direction you would like to go in your career.
